Approach

Applying Living Places principles within social housing in Denmark.

The quality of a home should not depend on who lives in it.

Through a partnership with VELUX, Domea is exploring how Living Places principles can be applied within Danish social housing. The ambition is to create homes that combine good indoor conditions, lower carbon emissions and durable construction while remaining accessible to a broad range of residents.

As the first Danish social housing administration and advisory company to join the Living Places Network, Domea brings an important perspective to the partnership: how better housing can reach more people through the social housing sector.

A New Approach to Social Housing

The first project developed through the partnership aims to deliver approximately 40 new homes in South Zealand.

The development explores how Living Places knowledge can contribute to housing designed around low carbon emissions, long-lasting materials and a healthy indoor climate. These ambitions are integrated from the earliest stages of planning, helping ensure that environmental performance and resident wellbeing are considered together.

The project provides an opportunity to understand how Living Places principles can be applied within the realities of social housing development.

We want to lead the way in delivering good, healthy homes for all. Through this partnership, we can actively work with Living Places principles to build with care for resources and ensure durability, low CO₂ emissions and a great indoor climate.

Homes That Support Everyday Life

Social housing plays an important role in supporting strong communities and improving quality of life.

For residents, the experience of a home is shaped by many factors: daylight, indoor comfort, durable materials and access to shared spaces. Together, these elements influence how people live and how neighbourhoods develop over time.

The partnership explores how these qualities can be integrated into future housing projects while remaining grounded in the practical realities of social housing.

Leading Through Practice

Domea serves housing organisations responsible for more than 95,000 homes across Denmark and Greenland.

This reach provides a unique opportunity to explore how Living Places knowledge can contribute to future social housing projects and help bring healthy homes to more people.

With responsibility for housing at this scale, Domea brings valuable insight into how homes perform over time and what residents need from the places they live.

The partnership demonstrates how collaboration can help translate knowledge into housing that performs well for both residents and communities.
